Clip ID | Unique Code given to each clip |
Subject | This may be an animal name, eg Great white shark, Object, eg sailing boat, or location eg Victoria Falls |
Scientific Name | Refers to the scientific name of an animal or plant |
Category | Refers to the overall content of the shot e.g. landscape, human, animal etc. |
Type of shot | Refers to the frame of a shot (see below for list of Acronyms and Terms) |
Action | Refers to specific behaviour, usually of an animal or person e.g blinking, chasing, yawning, leaping etc. |
Habitat | A description of the type of environment (see drop-down list) |
Continent | This indicates continent footage was filmed in e.g. North America

Region | Refers to a particular Country, State or County |
Location | Refers to the common name of a specific geographical location e.g. Yellowstone National Park |

Type of Shot:
Aerial | Filmed from the air - usually from a plane or helicopter |
CU | Close up |
ECU | Extreme close up |
High Speed (Slomo) | Slow motion shot, usually refers to footage filmed at a rate of 50 frames per second or more |
MACRO | Footage filmed with a macro (microscopic) lens |
MCU | Medium close up |
MS | Mid shot |
MWS | Medium wide shot |
Night Shot | Filmed at night time with artificial light |
PAN | Camera is moving horizontally, from right to left or left to right |
POV | Point of View (Subject is not in shot) |
Reveals | Subject is revealed during the shot |
Stationary | Camera does not move |
Thermal Image | Footage acquired using heat sensitive imaging cameras

Tilt Down | Camera tilts in a vertical line downwards |
Tilt Up | Camera tilts in a vertical line upwards |
Time lapse | Camera is running in stop motion. When played back at normal speed the action appears faster than normal speed. |
Topside | Camera is shooting above the water surface |
Track | Camera is following the action by travelling along a tracking device |
WS | Wide shot |
